Mechanical ventilation is an essential, life-saving therapy for patients with critical illness and respiratory failure.
VAEs are identified by using a combination of objective criteria: deterioration in respiratory status after a period of stability or improvement on the ventilator, evidence of infection or inflammation, and laboratory confirmation of respiratory infection. During this webinar, our speaker will review diagnostic criteria for VAE, its impact on patient outcomes, and current evidence-based recommendations to manage VAE. After this session, you will be able to describe the impact of mechanical ventilation in VAE, the importance of early recognition, and the role of the respiratory therapist in preventing and managing VAE.
