In an aim to reduce intubation and mechanical ventilation with its associated
risks, various non-invasive respiratory support strategies can be considered for
pediatric patients (1).
These strategies may include high-flow oxygen therapy, continuous positive
airway pressure and bilevel positive airway pressure, which are increasingly used
to provide support for pediatric patients with respiratory failure (2).
During this webinar, Ira M Cheifetz, MD FCCM FAARC, will discuss:
•The various strategies of non-invasive respiratory support for pediatric patients and clinical evidence to support their use
•Indications and contraindications for non-invasive respiratory support
•Selecting the right strategy of support and settings for each patient
•Challenges with non-invasive support in this population
•When to escalate to intubation and invasive mechanical ventilation
