Given the challenges associated with manual titration of FiO2 for infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (1), automated control of FiO2 systems allow clinicians to maintain their patients' oxygen within the set target (2) and “numerous studies have consistently reported an improved maintenance of the target range and a decrease in high and low FiO extremes” (1,3,4). Today, these systems are more readily available as an option for infants on ventilators the NICU (1).
During this webinar, Anton van Kaam, M.D., PhD. and Tomasz Szczapa, M.D., PhD. will discuss:
•Oxygen supplementation and SpO2 targeting in neonates
•The effects and complications of hypoxia & hyperoxia
•A review of automated control of oxygen delivery systems and algorithms
•Clinical data and evidence to support the use of these systems
•Is future research required to further support the implementation of these systems in the NICU?
