Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is a test performed to determine an overview of the person’s cardiopulmonary, circulatory and metabolic health as a response to physical work load by measuring metabolic gas exchange alongside a number of other physiological parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, etc. In the clinical world, it is used as a diagnostic tool to identify the possible physiological limitation in both children and adult patient groups leading to a specific disease or disability, be it pulmonary, cardiac, peripheral, metabolic, or other limitations.
