Orsi Academy is organizing a 2-day course for urologists with previous experience on the robot and familiarity with pyeloplasty and ureteric re-implantation.

 

The programs consists of:

-one day of live case observations in the OLV hospital in Aalst (2 Anderson Hynes pyeloplasty cases)

-one day of hands-on training on dry- & wet-lab models (see program)

 

The aim is to comprehensively cover the basic principles in reconstructive robotic surgery and to focus on advanced robot techniques in robotic pyeloplasty and ureteric re-implantation.

 

Course will be proctored by Dr. Geert De Naeyer & Dr. Justin Collins.

Course is directed by Prof. Dr. Alex Mottrie.

Day 1

 

0830 - 0900               Introduction and welcome OLV hospital Aalst

0900 - 1230                Live case observation of Anderson Hynes pyeloplasty at OLV (2 cases)

1230 - 1300               Transfer to Orsi Academy

1300 - 1400               Lunch

1400 - 1500               Console & Computer simulation* with baseline evaluation  

1500 - 1700               Presentations:

The principles of reconstructive surgery

Step by step description of A-H pyeloplasty

Step by step description of ureteric re-implantation with psoas hitch

 

Day 2

 

0800 -0830    Registration

0830-0900     Lecture presentation of the porcine mode

0900-1300     Porcine model training

1300 - 1400   Lunch

1400 - 1630   Porcine model training

1630 - 1700   Final evaluation and certification

*Console and Computer simulation

The first 30 mins of this lecture will be spent discussing optimal set up of the operating console as this is a topic not well covered in basic robot training leading to many surgeons becoming habituated to unergonomic positions.
