The present training will provide to the attendees scientific and clinical insights to implant deep brain electrode to patients suffering from invalidating and resistant to medical treatment. This training will focus on the patient selection, all surgical aspects permitting a safe and accurate device implantation. It will also give critical points to better follow implanted patients as well as some organisational aspects of this high specialised neurosurgical activity.
What will you learn?
- Surgical methods to implant deep brain electrodes
- Patient selection for DBS
- Post-operative management of DBS
- How to organise a DBS activity in a neurosurgical department
Live case observation, Lectures, On-site
Advantages of the procedure
The neurosurgical department has developed deep brain stimulation procedure since 1988, representing up to 30 years experiences. The department is well equipped for implanting deep brain electrodes with intra-operative CT-scan, intra-operative electrophysiology. The clinical staff includes neurosurgeons, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists and neuropsychologists. Attendees will benefit from the experience of all these physicians.
Who is this course for?
Neurosurgeons who want to create a functional neurosurgical clinical activity
