PCNL masterclass cadaver lab Amsterdam

Explore management options for patients with more complex stone disease and learn how to perform PCNL access using ultrasound and X-Ray imaging in a state of the art cadaver lab.

Using a combination of case-based learning and as-live surgery this course will explore topics of interest to residents committed to a career in endourology.

PCNL access is one of the most challenging techniques to conquer in endourology- learn safe techniques under expert faculty tuition in a completely patient safe way in the cadaver lab.

Residents, Fellows in Endourology and independent consultants who wish to perform their own PCNL access utilizing X-Rays and Ultrasound techniques.

Mr Luca Martinelli, Nejma Hocini or their deputies will meet you at the Amsterdam Skills Centre to begin the course with lunch.


Day 1:

17.50: Supine and prone: when is each best?

18.10 Managing PCNL complications

Day 2:

We will split the group in half with one half doing the cadaver lab and the other discussing PCNL related topics

Be able to position a patient safely to allow supine percutaneous access to be achieved


Counsel patients on the risks and benefits of available treatment options


Proactively manage the surgical procedure to minimize complications


Approach the patient with urinary stone disease in a holistic manner


Position patients on the operating table for prone PCNL


Utilise X-Ray screening to puncture the collecting system of the kidney


Utilise Ultrasound to puncture the collecting system of the kidney
