Dr. Amr Emara


Mr. Amr Emara qualified as a medical doctor in 1998, graduating from Ain Shams Medical School, Cairo, Egypt. He undertook a residency training program and was awarded MSc & MD degree from the same University, and then was appointed as a lecturer for his outstanding academic achievements. He was successfully granted the fellowship of the European board of Urology in 2008, and later the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Urology in 2012. He attended a post training fellowship on prostate Brachytherapy at Saint Luke’s cancer institute, followed by a year as a senior uro-oncology fellow in the University Hospital of South Manchester where he trained on advanced renal and pelvic cancer surgery. He then completed a 2-year fellowship program on renal laparoscopy and robotic surgery at Frimley Park Hospital. His academic interest continues, and he has now more than 75 peer reviewed publications and podium presentations in both national and international meetings. He has always been involved with numerous ground-breaking trials during this period. Amr is now a urology consultant at North Hampshire Hospital and works as honorary consultant ay Frimley park hospital. He was recently granted an associate professor title from his home university. His main urological interest is minimally invasive approaches for BPH; with extensive experience in Greenlight Laser vaporisation and more recently since early 2017 he shared in introducing the new prostate minimally invasive steam therapy (Rezūm) to the UK. Mr. Emara is a member of the renal cancer specialist cancer unit team at Frimley park hospital and has performed over 500 laparoscopic cases for renal cancers including laparoscopic cryotherapy. As part of the Basingstoke team, he has excelled in diagnostic prostate cancer procedures including template biopsy and MRI-targeted approach. He has 7 years’ experience in focal prostate cancer treatment approach using HIFU. Despite his clinical & academic commitments he still finds time to do some Scuba diving which he finds gives him great pleasure and inspiration.
