The use of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is commonly used in adult acute care (1). NIV, providing respiratory support without bypassing the upper airway, is often seen as advantageous as it is associated with a reduced risk of complications compared to intubation (2).

As further evidence to support the use of NIV has become available, the technology for NIV delivery has rapidly improved (1). These advances in modern ventilators have further aided patient-ventilator interaction and synchrony, patient monitoring and portability (1).

This webinar will address:

  • Goals of Non-Invasive Ventilation
  • Which patients should receive NIV - inclusion and exclusion criteria
  • NIV Strategies - modes and settings selection for individual patients, depending on their condition
  • Case studies
  • The technologies available in modern ventilators to aid effective NIV and patient comfort
