Part 1: How to obtain rigorous optimal cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) data?
Cardiopulmonary exercise testing can be challenging to obtain high quality data. Specifically, is the CPET system well calibrated, is the subject prepared, when should the study be stopped, is the exercise data optimal, and how do we know the test was performed well? How to display the data for maximal effectiveness? We will cover the three most common pitfalls to poor CPET data and discuss equipment, personnel training, and differences between bike and treadmill that will help your lab optimize the patient experience.
