Professor Sidney Kennedy will discuss the goal alignment between physician and the patient for successful disease management. He will highlight the importance of an early tailored (personalized) approach to treatment. A shared decision-making process helps to engage the patient in their treatment management from initiation to continuity. Improvement of anxiety symptoms, restoration of positive affect and level of functioning are predictive of a good outcome. He will give an overview of the different therapeutic options and their benefits beyond the antidepressant efficacy.

◊ provide key clinical insights on the management of depressed patients from first episode to ‘difficult-to-treat’ depression;
