This course will show the state of the art about sentinel node biopsy in cervical and endometrial cancers. Attendees will have a full description of techniques, indications, pathological analysis, limits of the technique through presentations by experts. Observation in the OR will show the practical use of the technique.
The sentinel node biopsy technique is spreading through the community of gynecologic surgeons. The technique is safe when properly operated. This approach enhances sensitivity of nodal staging with diagnosis of low volume metastases and decreases the morbidity of the nodal sampling. This technique is now part of the armamentarium of gynecologic oncology.
