The authors define the diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles as a distension of the alba line greater than 2 cm and analyze its causes and consequences, mainly aesthetic in their experience. They describe the surgical management.
The gold standard for this parietal repair remains for them the aponeurotic plication by suture.
The surgical approach is then described, depending on the quality and on the skin distension: abdominoplasty with horizontal or vertical incision, with or without the umbilical transposition.
Finally, they insist on the pertinence of preserving the native umbilicus given the difficulty of Umbilicus reconstruction procedures.
