Located in the centre of Madrid, it has a team of medical experts who work jointly towards the achievement of academic excellence in specific areas.

Juan Ignacio Martínez-Salamanca, MD, PhD, is a Urologist, Men´s Health Expert focused in Urologic Oncology and a major contributor to the Focalyx paradigm. Since 2007, he serves as an Attending Physician-Surgeon in the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid Affiliated Puerta de Hierro Hospital (Madrid, Spain) and is the founder of CUMQ and Lyx centers of urological excellence in Madrid. Dr Martinez-Salamanca earned his MD degree, from Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain. He completed his residency program in Urology at the Gregorio Maranon Hospital in Madrid-Spain. Upon completing his fellowship at the Cornell University Department of Urology (New York, NY) he gained his European Ph.D (Doctor Europeus) “Cum Laude” from UAM in 2011 on the dissertation “Survival and Perioperative Predictive Model in Patients with Renal Cell Carcinoma and Venous Extension" Dr. Martínez-Salamanca has a profound commitment to research. His interests are broad and include: erectile dysfunction outcomes after radical prostatectomy, stem cell therapy, peyronie´s disease, renal cell carcinoma with venous involvement and prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment including prostate fusion biopsy and image guided therapy. In fact, this extensive work propelled the foundation by him and collaborators of the “International Renal Cell Carcinoma Venous Thrombus Consortium” that currently includes 23 institutions around the world. Under his leadership this consortium has produced over 25 analysts presented or published in top scientific journals. He is the author of over 105 publications in urology as well as contributing chapters to several medical textbooks. He served as International Associated Editor (2008–2014) of Archivos Españoles de Urología and currently serves an Assistant Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Eugenio Cerezo López, MD, PhD, is an Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology specialist, expert in ultrasound.

Dr. Cerezo achieved his MD degree, from Universidad Autónoma of Madrid, Spain.

He was certified as Internal Medicine and Gastroenterologist specialist and obtained his Ph.D “Cum Laude” from UAM in 1992 on the dissertation “Scrotal Ultrasound"

Dr. Cerezo has a profound commitment to research. His interests are broad and include baseline penile doppler ultrasound and after vasoactive testing for the study of erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease and other male sexual dysfunctions, as well as scrotal ultrasound, other urological ultrasound, thyroid or muskuloeskeletal US, small vessel Doppler and abdominal US elastography.

He is the author of more than 20 publications in radiology, gastroenterology and internal medicine as well as medical textbooks. He served as honorary professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the “Universidad Autónoma de Madrid” until 1998 and served as staff of the Gastroenterology Department of the “Hospital Universitario La Paz” until 1998. Since 2006 he serves as Head of the Ultrasound Unit of the “Ecografias America” Group in Madrid and Head of the US Unit of the Clinica DKF in Madrid. He served also as US expert in Lyx Institute of Urology.



Overview
Estefania Linares (MD, PhD) urologist & researcher, is currently working at University Hospital La Paz in Madrid, as Uro-oncology surgeon, and Lyx Institute of Urology. After Medical School in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2008), she started her urologic training with residency in University Hospital Puerta de Hierro, where she began her PhD project on Kidney Cancer. She moved abroad to complete an observership on Urologic Oncology at Cleveland Clinic, US. Lastly, she completed a clinical fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Robotic Urology at Institut Mutualiste Montsouris in Paris, having the opportunity to train in Focal therapy strategies. Estefanía Linares is specialized in the global management of prostate cancer including basic (biomarkers in prostate cancer research) and clinical (diagnosis, focal therapy, minimally invasive surgery, high risk prostate cancer, metastatic disease). Actively working as an Associate in the European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines, working with the "Muscle-invasive and Metastatic Bladder Cancer" panel. Member of the Kidney Committee from the EAU Section of Oncological Urology (ESOU).
Overview
Claudio Martínez-Ballesteros, MD is Uro-Oncologist at University Hospital Puerta de Hierro and, Hospital Virgen del Mar in Madrid, and attending at Lyx Institute of Urology. He is an experienced surgeon with a broad interest in genitourinary cancers, that has resulted in many publications. His special focus in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment has led him to lead the Focalyx team in Madrid, where he fully adopted the prostate fusion biopsy and image-guided therapy.
