Through our network of Institutes for Advancing Science (IAS) and selected Centres of Education we provide face to face training programs, simulation workshops and programs to develop cognitive decision making and surgical skills. Our currently available courses are listed below.

Dr Jan-Paul Roovers is Professor of Urogynaecology at the AMC, Amsterdam Medical Center, he conducts research into the diagnostics of anatomical pelvic floor dysfunction. His research focuses primarily on the meticulous introduction and evaluation of new surgical techniques for women suffering from urinary incontinence and/or vaginal prolapse.
In collaboration with colleagues at renowned centres in the Netherlands and abroad, Roovers is conducting translational research into ways of reducing damage to the pelvic floor and is engaged in developing a new type of implant to treat women suffering from vaginal prolapse. Aside from continuing his avenues of research and teaching students and research assistants, Roovers’ remit includes developing optimally integrated gynaecological care, whereby highly complex gynaecological care is concentrated at academic medical centres, operative care with a low and medium level of complexity at secondary care centres and non-operative care - supported by secondary care - at primary care centres.
Mr Ulrich Witzsch received his medical degree from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, and pursued extensive training & research in Surgery, Urology & Paediatrics, both in Germany and the US,
Since 1999, Mr Witzsch is Senior Consultant Urologist & Doctor, Quality Management for the Paediatric Urology Clinic of Krankenhaus Northwest, Frankfurt, Germany. His interests include Erectile dysfunction, male and female continence as well as various areas of BPH management & therapy.
He has been an active trainer in the fields of BPH and incontinence Surgery since 2002.
Pr Pedro Vendeira is Assistant Urologist in the Urology Department of the Hospital Center Tâmega Sousa, Portugal, & Head of the Andrology Consultation since 2001. "Dr Suzie Venn was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester in 2000. She trained at the Royal London Hospital, with her urological training being centered at the Institute of Urology, University College London & Guys Hospital.
Here she developed her subspecialty interests in urethral stricture disease and Reconstructive Urology under Professor Mundy. She also trained under Professor Woodhouse in Adolescent & Reconstructive Urology, to join the Reconstruction Team at the Institute of Urology as a part-time consultant and honorary senior lecturer.
In 2005, Dr Venn was appointed as a consultant in Portsmouth Hospitals to lead reconstruction and adolescent surgery.At Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Suzie is the clinical lead for reconstructive surgery, male and female incontinence and paediatric and adolescent surgery..."

Dr. Enrique Rijo completed his Urology Residency in Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Spain in 2011, where he worked as a Consultant Urologist until 2015. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Barcelona in 2017 and received the “Best Thesis Award” from the Spanish Association of Urology (AEU).
He has been working in Hospital Quiron Barcelona since 2016. Dr. Rijo is specialized in BPH surgery and has extensive experience in laser endoscopic enucleation of the prostate and other minimally invasive techniques.
In the last few years he has been working as a mentor for GreenLight laser enucleation of the prostate (GreenLEP) and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). He has performed many live surgeries, lectures and presented more than 150 abstracts in National & International Meetings as well as publications.
Pr Tim Terry is anHonorary Consultant Urological Surgeon at NUH, Nottingham University Hospital, UK. He is also Visiting Professor at Nottingham Trent University & Associate Professor at Leicester University, UK.
Dr Terry's faocus is on : Implant Surgery (+400), including AUS 800, Male Advance Tape & PPS. He is also Director of Female Urology Fellowship tertiary referrals of VVF ureteric injuries, salvage SUI, urethral diverticula. He is the recipient of numerous awards and Chair of the Andrology Section of BAUS,

Dr Silvia Proietti graduated at the University of Perugia, Italy in 2006, Magnum cum laude. During her Residency, she won LLP-Erasmus Student Placement and spent 4 months at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust of London, under the direction of Professor Prokar Dasgupta; she also developed particular interest in functional urology, under the supervision of Professor Antonella Giannantoni.
From 2012 to 2015, she was member of staff of the Urology Department at Humanitas Clinical and Research Center in Milan and in particular at the “Stone Center” directed by Dr Guido Giusti. In 2015, she did a 6-month fellowship in endourology at Tenon University Hospital under the direction of Professor Olivier Traxer.
She is currently working at the Urology Department of San Raffaele Hospital, Ville Turro Division, in Milan, principally performing endourological treatment of stones and upper urinary tract tumors, which represent her main field of interest.
Dr. Cesare Marco Scoffone has been working for two decades in the University Department of Urology of Orbassano, Torino, Italy, developing a wide experience in Uro-oncologic & reconstructive surgery, retrograde ureteroscopic & percutaneous treatment of urolithiasis, miniinvasive approaches to BPO.
Since 2010 he is Chief of the Department of Urology of the Cottolengo Hospital of Torino, Italy. His personal case series include thousands of open, laparoscopic & endoscopic procedures (>750 ECIRS, >500 en-bloc no-touch HoLEPs, thousands of RIRS) performed as first surgeon in all urologic fields, and during the last fifteen years he has been often invited for Live Surgeries (mainly RIRS, ECIRS, bipolar TURP, HoLEP) all over the world.
He is author of many peer-reviewed publications, guidelines, book chapters (including one in the 4th edition of the Smith’s Texbook of Endourology on ECIRS), didactic videos (also for ESU/Surgery in Motion), editor of a Springer book on ECIRS, reviewer for many international journals, member of national and international urological) societies, consultant for various companies, part of the EAU, CIE and SIU Faculties, chairman of the Technology and Training in Endourology congress in Torino (8th edition in 2018).
Dr Cecilia Cracco, MD, PHD received her degree in Medicine & Surgery, in 1989 from the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery, University of Torino. From 1990 to 1996, she attended the Department of Anatomy & Developmental Biology of the University College London, UK, under the supervision of prof. G. Gabella and prof. G. Burnstock), as guest researcher. She completed a PhD in Ophtalmologic Sciences, at the University of Torino.
She then became a Researcher, MED24 Urology, at the University of Torino, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, as well as still working at the Urological Clinic of the S. Luigi Gonzaga Hospital of Orbassano (Torino). She is now an Urologist at the Urology Department, Cottolengo Hospital of Torino. Dr Cracco is the author of numerous articles.
Pr Koenraad van Renterghem received his PHD from the University of Maastricht with Pr Van Kerrebroeck as supervisor. He is Head of the Department of Urology at Jessa Hospital, Hasselt, Belgium.
Pr van Renterghem areas of interest are in prostate pathology research & corpus cavernosum in relation to erecction problems. He is an active member of several national & international Professional Associations.
Dr Gommert Van Koeveringe is Professor & Chair of the Department of Urology at Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+), the Netherlands. He is specialized in Functional/Reconstructive and Neurourology. He conducts & coordinztes basic, translational and clinical urological research within the research school for neuroscience (MHeNS/EURON), on neurourology, bladder and lower urinary tract control mechanisms at Maastricht University.
He participated in several European research projects and obtained multiple national and international research grants. He participates in several MUMC+ multidisciplinary teams such as the Pelvic Care Center, the Brain & Nerve-center and the Neuromodulation steering Committee. He is chairman of the scientific committee and member of the functional and reconstructive urology working group of the Dutch urological association. He participates in several clinical and preclinical studies in the field of Functional and Neuro-urology and has authored several bookchapters and over 135 international publications in this field.
Dr Nikesh Thiruchelvam is a highly-experienced Consultant Urologist based in Cambridge, UK. He has a specialist interest in all aspects of urinary dysfunction & treatment. He was appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon at Lea Hospital & Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge University in 2009.
Originally qualifying from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in London, Mr Thiruchelvam pursued specialist training at leading centers of Urological excellence including St. Bartholomew’s, the Royal London Hospital, Ipswich Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Over the course of his career Mr Thiruchelvam has secured multiple fellowships to travel to the USA and Australia, studying cutting edge techniques in treating prostate enlargement and urinary incontinence.
Dr Thiruchelvam is a co-author to the European Association of Urology Guidelines for Urinary Incontinence, invited faculty of European School of Urology and is regularly invited to lecture at Urology conferences abroad and undertake Visiting Professorships.
"Dr Jake Patterson is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, having been appointed following training in Yorkshire, UK. He practices as an Endoluminal Endourologist and leads a busy multidisciplinary stone team with a large tertiary practice, including providing cover to the UK's second-largest regional spinal injuries centre.
He has special interests in complex stone disease in neuropathic patients and also in medical device development, as well as ureteroscopic and percutaneous stone surgery and the management of other benign and malignant upper urinary tract diseases including the diagnosis and endoluminal management of upper tract urothelial cancer.
Dr. Patterson also holds a position as Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield and is an experienced and enthusiastic under-graduate and post-graduate teacher, especially in clinical skills tuition. He is an active researcher, acting as principle investigator for a number of multi-centre trials, and is a reviewer for most major Urology journals in the field of Endourology."

"Dr Palle Osther is currently Professor at the Department of Urology, Fredericia Hospital – a part of Hospital Littlebelt, in Denmark, and the Director of the Urological Research Center at Hospital Littlebelt, University of Southern Denmark.

Dr Rowland Rees is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at University Hospitals Southampton - one of the largest academic teaching hospitals in the South of England. He provides a tertiary andrology & genito-urethral surgery service, providing urethral reconstruction, penile prosthesis, artificial urinary sphincter, Peyronie’s disease, male infertility and penile cancer service for a population of ~ 3 million. Rowland qualified in Medicine in 1995 at Bart’s and The London Hospital school of Medicine, University of London, taking an intercalated degree in neuro-physiology with 1st Class Hons. After surgical training in South London and the South coast, Rowland underwent a period of research into andrology and male genital smooth muscle pharmacology at the renowned Wolfson Institute at UCL, clarifying the role of Rho-kinase in the erectile pathway.

Dr Nicolas Morel Journel has been performing Andrological & Urological Reconstructive Surgery at the Hospices Civils de Lyon University Hospital Center in Lyon, France since 2000. He has improved procedures for sexual reassignment surgery, (phalloplasty, vaginoplasty...), urethral surgery, penile cancer surgery and andrological surgery.
He is now part of a 2 surgeon team who perform between 90 & 110 implantations of penile prosthesis each year,
Pr Ignadio Moncada Iribarren is Head of the Department of Urology, Andrology & Robotic Surgery at the University Hospital of Sanitas La Zarzuela, Madrid, Director of the Robotic Surgery Institute & the Men's Health Unit. He is also Associate Professor of Urology at UFV, Faculty of Medicine, Francisco de Vitoria University, Madrid, Spain.
Pr Iribarren serves on several national and international editorial boards. He has published more than 150 articles in specialized magazines and several book chapters.
His main scientific interest has been Sexual Medicine & Andrological Surgery and in the last 5 years, he has been involved in both oncological and reconstructive robotic surgery.
Dr Lennart Wagrell received his MD from the University of Uppsala, Sweden. He went on to complete his Urology training at Kalmar County Hospital. He then served for several years at the Urology Clinic of the University Hospital in Uppsala. He is now Senior Medical Advisor at Urolog Centrum, Stockholm, Sweden.
Dr lennart Wagrell is a specialist in mini-invasive surgery procedures for prostate enlargement, i.e. PLFT, Prostalund Feedback Treatment.
"I am a practicing Urologist for the last 25 years in South Africa. We started the surgery for prostheses and incontinence in males at Steve Biko Academic Hospital with Professor Dion Du Plessis. Since he has retired I have taken over the work on male incontinence and erectile dysfunction. I have been doing the surgery both in private practice and Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
I am also part time lecturer at the University of Pretoria and doing regular workshops to improve patient care regarding incontinence and erectile dysfunction. I do on a regular basis assist Urologists in South Africa during surgery at their own units and train them to perform the surgeries themselves. I am regularly contacted by Urologists to give advice on indications and handling of complication associated with implants. "

Dr Frank Van der Aa received his MD in 2001 from the Catholic University of Leuven and obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences in 2007 from the same university. He completed his Residency in Urology in 2008 at UZ Gasthuisberg in Leuven. He became Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) in 2010 and Fellow of the European Board of Sexual Medicine (FECSM) in 2012.
He now serves as Adjunct Head of Clinic in the Department of Urology of the University Hospitals Leuven and staff member of the National MS Center in Melsbroek, both in Belgium. In addition, he is lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven.
His special clinical interests are in neuro-urology, male and female incontinence & reconstructive urology. His major research interest include animal models of stress urinary incontinence, interstitial cells, nerve regeneration & stem cell applications.
